Ram girls second, boys fifth at Panorama X-country meet

Greene County placed second in the Class A girls race and fifth in the Class A boys race at the Panorama cross-country invitational meet held Sept. 18 under sunny skies at the Panorama Par Three golf course near Panora.

Ram sophomore Olivia Hansen led the Rams with a seventh place finish at 17:25.1 for the 4K race. Senior Emily Christensen were 10th in 18:10.5, with classmate Eme Johnson in 13th place with a time of 18:13.3. Freshman Emily Finch set a personal record at 18:44.9, good for 16th place in the race. Senior Noelle Gray finished in 21st place at 19:06.3. The fastest time for the race was 16:41.46 set by Payton Sporrer of IKM-Manning.

The Panorama girls, ranked eighth in Class 1A, won the meet with a team score of 34 points. Greene County is ranked sixth in Class 2A. The Rams had a team score of 66. Other team scores in Class A were IKM-Manning 75, Des Moines Christian 78, West Central Valley 89, and Carlisle 158.

In the boys 5K race, senior Landon Braun had the best Ram time at 19:26.0, good for 12th place. Senior Logan Egeland finished in 14th place at 19:35.8. Winning time in Class A was Ogden’s Trey Thompson’s time of 17:41.68.

Carlisle won the meet with 49 points. Other team scores were Des Moines Christian 51, Ogden 69, Panorama 100, Greene County 130, West Central Valley 133, IKM-Manning 151, and Clarke (Osceola) 195.

Paton-Churdan ran in the boys Class B race and placed 12th of 12 teams with a score of 294.
